Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits he is excited to take his team to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
The Gunners are due to host Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday, with Arteta speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday.
At one point, the English media asked about the Gunners’ chances of winning the title this season, but Arteta refused to talk about it and instead looked ahead to the excitement of the semi-finals.
“I’m excited to take the team to this game, the fans in the stadium, the semi-final, the opportunity to do it properly to go to the final,” the Spanish coach said.
“It starts tomorrow (Tuesday), two games and of course it will be a long match with two very good teams. We know that but we are very nervous. We need the atmosphere in the stadium to help us.
“I don’t know (when asked if winning the title was important for the team). We have to win tomorrow (Tuesday). The road is still long, try to be better than the opponent and win.”
